About Hades

 Our Story

I first met Hades in 2012 when he was just turning 8 years old. Ever since my first horse Babe that I had in high school, I'd always wanted another horse. And leaving San Francisco for Sonoma Country in 2012 was the perfect opportunity. At last, this was the right place to have a horse. I met Hades in 2012, just before his 8th birthday.

Later, in 2017, I moved to France and brought him with me. We traveled together on KLM from LA to Amsterdam on their equine flight, then after a few days rest at a horse hotel, we drove to Normandy via a horse transporter.

In 2018 he performed for audiences at the famous Haras National du Pin, France's oldest stable founded in the 1700s. He even had his own choreographer! Such a beauty was he!

Due to Friesian's long lashes that are sometimes growing on the lower inside lid, later that year, he developed an eye ulcer which was successfully treated by the clinic in 2018.

During the Covid years, he was home with me and became my favorite backyard horse! During that time, I made a series of photographs of him that you can find here: https://thehadesportfolio.blogspot.com

Now 20 years old, he is my best friend. There is nothing like a horse hug and a kiss from a gentle giant whose stands so tall and proud. My sweet Hades whose heart weighs in at about 22 pounds, is full of love and joy.

Though now he suffers from horrible skin allergies that caused him to rub out his beautiful mane and forelock, and has left patches of bald skin over his face and body, along with mysterious weight loss, he is forever a great beauty, and a deep magnificent soul.
